Established in 1986

Tony Matless began his career as a stonemason in 1967, training letter cutting under the late Charlie Taylor at the city's Woods memorials. Tony earnt his apprenticeship and became a qualified monumental mason on the 19th August 1968.

In 1986 with 19 years of experience in his trade Tony started Abbey memorials. Originally on his premises working out of his shed before opening a state of the art building in 2007. Master Mason Charlie Taylor opened the premises in South Burlingham on his 97th birthday in August 2007.

Serving all of East Anglia with his team, Abbey Memorials has the skill's and knowledge to undertake all aspects of monumental masonry.

Today Abbey has a loyal team of monumental mason's that are NAMM and BRAMM registered that can complete all aspects of monumental work.

  1. Since 1986 Abbey's has been proud to letter cut and gild the Norfolk County Council Chairman's name in county hall anually.
  1. We have been commissioned to add the Lord Mayor's of Norwich names to the wall in the Norwich County Council building.
  1. We worked with Norwich Council to produce artistic stoneworks to mark Norwich Lanes around many historic routes of Norwich.

  1. We worked with Julie Staff to design and erect a memorial she fund raised to mark the death's of those that tragically lost their lives in Great Yarmouth when a suspension bridge collapsed.

  1. We worked with Norfolk County Council to revamp Great Yarmouth Railway station entrance adding a large quote across multiple paving stones made of natural stone.
